Citywing Vikings C 16 Celtic Gold Peel A 2

At second mens Jamie Joughin and Alex Buck won 21/9 21/15 against Peel’s Bharat Chhetri and Liam Reynolds –it was a close second game with Reynolds playing very consistently during the middle half to gain important points, although not as many as he would have wished! The  Vikings second womens pairing of Melissa McKnight and Georgia Foxton  beat Susan Craine and Emma Simons 21/9 21/7, while at first mens Derek Gray and Neil Gibb maintained Vikings impetus beating Darren Irving and Stuart Gell 21/15 21/19. First womens Csilla Buck and Samantha Spellman won against Peel’s Rachael Golby and Alison Craine 18/21 21/15 21/14 giving Peel their first game of the evening. Fourth mixed Alex Buck and Foxton continued their winning record with a win over Simons and  Reynolds 21/17 21/10.  Third mixed Joughin and Spellman won against Craine and Chhetri 17/21 21/19 21/18 giving Peel their second and final game of the match.  Second mixed Gray and McKnight won against Iriving and Golby 21/12 21/16. Finally at first mixed Gibb and  Csilla Buck proved too strong for Gell and Craine winning 21/8 21/7. RMcL

Doehle Corporate Selborne C 10 Microgaming Marown C 6

Selborne's win was overshadowed by an ankle injury to Shibu Augustian during the first game at first mixed - required an ambulance and abandonment of match (thankfully no break and Augustian now on mend). Earlier Selborne's Hameed Sulthan  and  Raymond Gawne had won second mens 21/17 21/7 against Simon Sayle  and  Colm Garrity, and Selborne’s Sue Richardson  and  Sue Young also won in two at second womens. Sid McKnight & Augustian came up against a good pair in Marown’s Joe Garrity and Matthew Colley losing 10/21, 19/21 at first mens, and a similar outcome at first womens as Selborne’s Gill Young  and  Felicia Gawne lost 15/21, 19/21 to Emma Williams  and  Michelle Garrity. Selborne won each of the bottom three mixed in two before conceding first mixed.  RMcM

League 5

Caley Stores Sulby 4 Kella Farms Sulby 15

The' in house' derby match for Sulby was much awaited and there was great commitment from all on the night. the result might have been predictable but the individual games were hard fought. Fourth mixed was perhaps the most entertaining with James and Katie Strickett putting some hard earned points on the board for Caley Stores by taking a game from Ian Collister and Katerina Clarke. Norman Brew and Joan Hughes neverthless went one better for Caley Stores by winning first mixed from Kella Farms Stuart Clarke and Judy Kelly 11/21,21/18,21/14.- but it was Kella Farms Sulby's night overall as they took the rest of the spoils to win the match. CuPlas Callow St Ninians C 15 Tynwald Celts B 4

A friendly match with the young St Ninians team growing in confidence winning all their games bar one in this match.  Some close matches but the nail biter was at fourth mixed where it could have gone either way.  Beth Lewis was partnered by John Sheath for Tynwald Celts against Harry Peake and sub Kate Cowley.   The latter held on to the first game winning 23/ 21 but the experience of  Sheath meant it was one game all with Tynwald Celts winning the second game 21/18.  The final game was also very close but Lewis kept her cool at the net and was rewarded with a third game win of 21/18 for Tynwald Celts.  KW
