Citywing monitoring Blackpool Airport situation

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Citywing says it's currently working with the owners of Blackpool Airport in light of news the airport could close next week.

Airport bosses have been trying to find a buyer to take over operating the terminal after making a loss over a number of years.

They say they are exploring a number of options but if no agreement can be reached before October 7th it's likely the airport will be closed.

If this is the case the last commercial flights would take place on October 15th - passengers have been advised to contact their airline if they are booked to travel.

Citywing flies from the Island to Blackpool daily - it says it is working to seek out an interim position for continued operations with a view to securing a positive outcome in the longer term.
