MHK refuses to be political stooge

Michael MHK Alf Cannan says he will not be the political "stooge" for housing.

He resigned from his political responsibility for it yesterday blaming the Cabinet Office.

He says it's become clear that it is making major policy decisions as opposed to the Department of Health and Social Care.

Earlier this week he learnt that the office will meet with local authorities to discuss various issues - proposals he says he had no knowledge of.

The backbencher is refusing to "bluff" the public:
